Showcase Your Armor Knight Competition (2019.09). iClone Lip Sync Animation Contest (2021.07). So here's hoping we can get just a bit more to make it really worth it for iClone. Whether they will continue to address the few things I found that do need fixing I don't know, but they ARE responsive (I emailed them an issue I had a few days ago and they got back to me within hours with the answer). But at least they didn't forget those of us who wanted characters they were never going to offer (because they are squarely positioned in the modern world - and mostly business world, at that - architectural animation). And for the most part it's true that their major advances have been to position themselves as content sellers (they have a whole line of "4D" characters now, and a subscription service for all their "people"). It's funny - back then (this is now around 4-5 years ago) I thought "they are NEVER going to change things, their business model is pretty well set". I really can't imagine anyone not using this tool a lot (and it's reasonably priced as well). I'm going to also create some of my own animations (for crew working on computers, etc). The scenes you describe are exactly what I intend to use this for. The experiments I've done with dozens loaded much more reasonably (a few minutes). I don't know *exactly* how long it took to load but at least 15+ minutes (and might be as long as 45). It's fine once it's there, but on my fast machine I just assumed it was never going to get there so I went to eat breakfast and when I came back 30 minutes later it was done. The only thing I want to note is that a scene this big (I think there's something like 300+ storm troopers) it takes a LONG time to load into iClone. On this it plays back in Real Time and is still easy to move around. Even if you brought in very low-res avatars through CC3 you couldn't do more than a few dozen before your system would be forced to a crawl. So, yes, this would be impossible to do in iClone just for the hundreds of objects slowdown. Now it's just already animated on the timeline, which is very, very cool (again, I don't know how I missed this). You had to use XChange to import it as an FBX with an animation and then set the prop animation in iClone. In the "old" days (most likely before my surgery) you couldn't import it this way. _ Life-long learner and having waaaay too much fun with iClone! Youtube Channel: Pandora's Box Book Covers: Largely Unfinished Fiction: The FBX file comes in as one object - it's just an animated mesh.
Sorry for bombarding you with questions. Thanks for any info. And many scenes where I need crewmembers doing background stuff on like a ship's bridge, but only managed it once without iClone completely dying. Do they then conflict with each other? I have a scene where I've got a scene with bunch of guards sort of idling around on duty as one character moves down a long corridor and was just doing to cut it out because I didn't think iClone could handle it. Question.going with the "hundreds of even low poly objects problem" from another recent couple of threads, does using this solve some of that, if the hundreds (or even like 40) objects mean characters? Is that why this works so well? Are they imported as one item? And if they are, what does that mean for the set? Like I use one of Anima's templates to set them all up, but then import them into the "real" set.
You've got me totally looking at this-it's so coo! I watched the how-to vid, as well.

So it's a ton of fun to play with and I made this file (just for fun - it's not done too well since I spent almost zero time on it) to show some possibilities:Īlienware Aurora R12, Win 10, i9-119000KF, 3.5GHz CPU, 128GB RAM, RTX 3090 (24GB), Samsung 960 Pro 4TB M-2 SSD, TB+ Disk space Mike " ex-genius" Kelley But in the past this would have been impossible since 3DXChange would not have allowed it as a 32bit program). My Stormtrooper file took around 45 minutes on my fast machine.
So no more worrying about the size of the FBX file (well, a large file CAN take a while to import. 3) iClone 7 somehow changed from the last time I used Anima and now you can simply drag and drop the FBX file and it keeps the mesh animation (when the heck did THIS happen? That we now have Mesh Animation on the timeline? Must have been during my surgery because this is too important for me to have missed). 2) Importing your own motions is also cleaned up and just as easy now. Kudos for them supporting iClone in this manner (probably due to me nagging at them for years :>. Three things: 1) They have now included a Reallusion template so taking characters from CC3 into Anima is both super simple and works nearly every time (you do need to switch the eyes to the more simple 3.0 ones but other than that it's a piece of cake). I had not used it in over a year so I was anxious to see how it performed.

So while I was reinstalling software on my new machine I upgraded my Anima from 4 to 4.5.
